IMMOBILIZATION SKILLS

 

 

LONG BONE

 

Takes or verbalizes body substance isolation

Directs application of manual stabilization of the injury

Assess motor, sensory, and distal circulation

Note: The examiner acknowledges present and normal

Measures splint

Applies splint

Immobilizes bone above injured joint

Immobilizes bone below injured joint

Secures the entire injured extremity

Immobilizes hand/foot in position of function

Reassesses motor, sensory and distal circulation

Note: The examiner acknowledges present and normal

 

CRITICAL CRITERIA

 

            Grossly moves injured extremity

            Did not immobilize adjacent joints

            Did not reassess motor, sensory and distal circulation after splinting
